Construction Activity Continues to Improve

A few highlights:

• Construction activity is up 5.3% year-over-year ($908.4 billion in October 2013 versus $863.1 billion in October 2012.
• Private residential housing tends to be a leading indicator of construction activity. It's way off is's lows, but has stalled this year.
• Public sector construction tends to be a lagging indicator. It's been inching up and is up over 7% from it's April low.
