
Justin Reginato is the Associate Vice President of Facilities Services at the University of Nevada, Reno. His tenure at UNR started in September 2022.
Dr. Reginato's past industry employment includes work as the Associate Vice President of Facilities Management at California State University, Sacramento (Sac State), where he also served as a part-time instructor in the Construction Management Department. Sac State's Facilities Management Department operates over 2.7 million square feet of assignable campus space and is managing over $450 million of projects in various phases of design and construction. Prior to his role with Facilities Management, Dr. Reginato* was an Associate Professor at Sac State, having started teaching on the campus in Spring 2009, focusing on project cost estimating and control, scheduling, and project management. His research interests include construction economics (including quantifying the transaction costs associated with contracting and creative destruction), labor issues and adoption of technology in the construction industry. Dr. Reginato also has experience as a construction consultant and expert witness for construction disputes and claims. While serving as a professor, he worked for Swinerton Builders and Western Engineering Contractors when classes were not in session. Earlier in his career, Dr. Reginato worked in project management and estimating with URS Construction Services and geotechnical engineering design with URS/Woodward-Clyde and Taber Consultants. Outside of the engineering and construction industry, Dr. Reginato has managed drug and diagnostic development projects in the biotechnology industry at KineMed Inc. and Integrated Project Management (for client Theravance). From 2006 to 2013, Dr. Reginato served as President and Chief Executive Officer for Glycometrix, a Sacramento area biotechnology start-up company. He continues to advise early-state start-up companies.
Dr. Reginato received his Ph.D. from the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department in the University of California, Berkeley's College of Engineering, where he focused on Engineering and Project Management and minored in Management of Technology. His M.S. is in Civil Engineering from U.C. Berkeley and his B.S. in Geological Engineering from the University of Nevada, Reno's Mackay School of Earth Science and Engineering.
Reginato lives in Sacramento with his wife Tracey, daughters Grace and Ella, and dogs Fredo, Michael and Scoutie.
